Important aspects of this policy include:

  • Employees are expected to make a reasonable effort to report to work at their regular work location. (Section 1.2)
  • If, due to inclement weather, an employee is unable to report to their regular work location, the employee is expected to make a reasonable effort to report to the closest alternate work location (Section 1.3) and to inform their principal or supervisor (Section 1.4).
  • As road and/or weather conditions improve, an employee is expected to report to the employee's regular work location later in the day (Section 1.5).
  • If an employee is unable to report to any work location for all or part of a day, the decision regarding whether the employee will be paid, or if the pay is to be prorated, will be made by the appropriate superintendent on the recommendation of the immediate principal or supervisor.
  • An employee who is unable to report to any work location for all or part of a day is required to submit a completed Request to be Absent form to their principal or supervisor.
