Application to OSSTF District 14's Bereavement Fund closes on December 15.
Last year District 14 introduced the Bereavement Fund. Participation is voluntary and no money is collected unless there is a death of a participating member. If such an unfortunate event occurs, all those in the fund commit to donate $50 to the beneficiary of the member. If 200 members join the fund and one dies, $10,000 would be immediately directed to his or her family. See your branch president to sign up or call the District Office at 748-3444. For specific details of the fund, read more. |

District 14 is sad to announce the resignation of Dave Warda as our Provincial Councillor. This is an important position which keeps our district in close contact with provincial office. As per our constitution, the District Executive appointed a member to assume the position until our AGM in May when it will be open for election. District 14 is happy to welcome Dan Fewings as our new Provincial Councillor. |

Monday, 16 October 2006 |
Due to a lack of volunteers, the OSSTF TBU voted to no longer pursue the organization of a Christmas party for members' families. We thank those who came forward this year with offers to help and we appreciate the work members put forth in previous years to make this event happen. December is a busy season for everyone and we respect our members' needs to manage their time judiciously. |

Do you have a child who will be enrolled in a post-secondary institution next year? Would an extra $1000 for tuition help? OTIP offers twelve $1000 academic bursaries yearly to the children of insured members. Many district 14 members subscribe to OTIP for house and car insurance and all members (except for those who have opted out) are covered by OTIP’s long term disability. So if your child will be attending a Canadian university or college next year and will be 30 years of age or younger, click here to apply. For more information, read more.
